Current Status
Ongoing PhD project (ending in 2004)
Goals
To design, implement and evaluate a
computational environment for supporting scientific writing in Brazilian
Portuguese.
Main Features of the Project
Based
on Project AMADEUS (for scientific writing in English by non-native writers).
Use of a tagged corpus of authentic scientific texts
(abstracts and introductions of theses and dissertations in Computer Science).
Use of a statistical classifier of Argumentative Zones (based on Teufel and Moens' work).
Expected Results
An original environment for scientific writing in Portuguese including an automatic critiquer of academic abstracts in Portuguese.
