Travel Information

The Institute of Mathematical and Computer Sciences (ICMC) is located at the downtown campus (Campus 1) of USP and is very close to (some blocks away from) the city bus station.

Airport

Unfortunately, the city of São Carlos does not have a commercial airport. However, there are flights to most of the airports in the near cities: São Paulo/SP (250 Km from São Carlos), Campinas/SP (150 Km), Ribeirão Preto/SP (100 Km). If necessary, the Araraquara airport (43 Km) has local flights between Campinas and São Paulo.

Although São Paulo is a bit more distant from São Carlos (it is a 3h30 bus trip) than Campinas or Ribeirão Preto, there are frequent buses all day long between São Paulo and São Carlos. Therefore, the best option is to land at one of the airports in São Paulo and to get a bus from there. Campinas is also a good option.

Two bus companies offer the service between São Paulo and São Carlos:

• Empresa Cruz

Buses to São Carlos leave from the Tietê bus station in São Paulo. Please, ensure that you are at the right bus station, as the city of São Paulo has more than one.

The two companies above also offer the service between Campinas and São Carlos.
